Timberline
The mountain looks so tall from the summit
Looking up with the sun in your eyes
Clouds hide the peak and what lies behind
Somewhere there's a path to the summit
Out there where the eagle flies
Wind at your back as you start to climb
You find strength in your desire
A course laid out by the dream in your mind
Before you know you've reached the timberline
We want to look down on the treetops far below
Rooted in the soil they grew in not climbing up,
but not falling down
Keep climbing up keep trying hand over hand, the rich
get going
Closer to the stars keep wishing. Burn bright and burn
out or glow forever
High above the Timberline cold wind burns your face
Way up there it's hard to breathe, hard to keep the pace
The sun is strong it lights the word so much to see
They tell me that it's lonely there where we all wish to be
You've come so far but there is so far to go
Growing shadows tell the passing of time
But feel much closer to the sky
The stone face you climb reflects the stone face you wear
Emotion weighs down on a weary mind
The forest looks so small from the summit
Looking down with a tear in your eye
Cloudy memories warm the coldest nights
Close to the stars, cast a shadow on the sun
A face in the crowd grows weary of standing alone
for the world to see
Hanging by a thread, clinging to hope

Fairytales End
Take your pictures down off the wall

From souvenir shirts. I know the memories hurt
